The story starts off with John and the narrator inside of a large old home. While the narrator is wondering why it as so cheap, John laughs at the thought of something being unique with the estate. The narrator is sick though, but John isn't helping that much even though he is a physician. The narrator has her own beliefs on what could help her, but she goes on to talk about what she did before and then communicates a bit more about the estate. She complains about her room and communicates about her schedule and the wallpaper. [Link to part 2].
